MAX4Kids Scholarship Application - Community
MAX is excited and pleased to support the youth of our River Region by awarding ten $5,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors in the River Region for continued education. MAX is a cooperative not-for-profit financial institution committed to building lifelong relationships with our members. The deadline to apply for a 2012 MAX4Kids Scholarship is March 9, 2012. You may download an application here or pick one up at your nearest MAX branch.
New in 2012! AAICU Supplemental Scholarship
The Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU) is partnering with the MAX4Kids Foundation to offer a supplemental scholarship. Any 2012 MAX4Kids Scholarship recipient who attends an AAICU school will receive an additional $500 scholarship.

MAX4Kids Scholarship Eligibility
This scholarship is intended for students continuing their education at a four-year institution, junior college or technical school.
1. The student applying for the scholarship must be a MAX member. A parent's or guardian's membership does not qualify. A student's account must have been opened by August 31, 2011, in order to be eligible for the scholarship.
2. Applicant must be (or will be) a spring 2012 graduate of a River Region high school with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA and must begin college or technical school in the fall of 2012. High schools in the following counties are considered part of the River Region: Autauga, Bullock, Butler, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Crenshaw, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike and Tallapoosa.
3. The deadline to apply for a MAX Scholarship is March 9, 2012. Applications for 2012 MAX4Kids Scholarship are available in branches and online.
How To Apply
1. Scholarship applications may be obtained from any MAX branch, by calling (334) 398-0088, or by downloading one here.
2. The MAX4Kids Scholarship application must be completed by the student applicant only.
3. Write a 350 word essay describing a challenge you have faced and how you have overcome or are planning to overcome the situation.
4. Include three (3) letters of recommendation.
5. Include an OFFICIAL high school transcript (obtained from your counselor), that includes your GPA as well as SAT, ACT or College Entrance Scores. Additional consideration will be given to students based on academic standing, or community or school involvement.
6. Mail the application and materials to MAX, Your Community Credit Union, ATTN: Scholarship Coordinator, P.O. Box 244040, Montgomery, AL 36124-4040. Incomplete packages will automatically disqualify your application. All applications must be postmarked by March 9, 2012.
Selection Process
Judging will take place in April 2012 by the MAX4Kids Scholarship Committee. The committee, comprised of River Region college educators, operates as an external, independent panel to identify the best candidates for the 2012 MAX4Kids Scholarship Program. The committee will review all applications and select (10) students to receive $5,000 scholarship awards. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship decisions by May 1, 2012. The selections of the committee are final.
Award Disbursement
MAX will award a $5,000 scholarship to the selected applicants. MAX will award the money upon receiving a letter from the registrar of the designated college or university, or any document confirming the recipient's successful completion of the first quarter or semester of study.
